Blue, yellow… what comes next?

Edmund and Bouncer have a toy train to build. Join them as they sort blue and yellow track pieces, make a repeating color pattern and count three train cars. When building gets tricky, the friends help each other and keep trying. Then it is time for a magical journey into Adventureland, with a rainbow and a choo-choo tunnel echo along the way.

Little things to notice together

Find blue and yellow

Look at the track pieces with your child. They can point, say a color or simply watch the friends sort. Pause whenever your family wants more time.

Choose the next color

Notice how blue and yellow repeat along the track. Say the colors together, then look for the next piece. There is no need to rush an answer.

A play idea for grown-ups

Make a little railway at home

After watching, draw three large train cars on paper. Let your child choose blue and yellow crayons, add a repeating color pattern and count the cars with you. This is a suggested at-home activity; the finished picture can be entirely their own.

Use materials suited to your child and stay nearby. Drawing works well without cutting, small pieces or a special train set.
